pass the yoghurt raisins...

mmm...this post started off as a comment on mark's blog. but then i realised it was gonna go on a bit, so thought it deserved a space all of it's own. (plus then, it's not infringing on syd - who i hope now has an endless supply of choccy drops.)

gytha took a trip today. she likes car journeys - this became evident on the journeys to-and-from liverpool. so today, she was all excited to be out and about. till she realised i'd taken her to see a big smelly man who squished and prodded her. she piddled and pooped on him.

(incidently - the v.e.t we saw today reminded me a hellva lot of my doctor. i like my dr, but didn't really like this guy. stange huh?)

so anyway, after swearing to myself before we went that i wouldn't agree to it, she's having an op on wed to get rid of one particular lump. she's had one for months, but it hasn't grown. and i'm sure she's got more under all those rolls of fat. but the one for removal is a new one, and came from no where. friday she was fine, today she's limping because it's getting in the way.

i really don't know if i've made the right choice. she's an old rat - 2 years to be exact. but she's still gytha. she hasn't showed any signs of stopping. boy, can that rat still run!! but then there's the whole op thing - increased risks because she's old and overweight. (or in the words of the v.e.t: "gosh, she's a bit fat isn't she?" mmm...maybe that's why i don't like him.)

to be honest, she's put on a lot of weight recently. mum thinks it's because i'm giving her enough food for 2 rats. but i've noticed she isn't really eating what i give her. she'll eat all her treats and stuff, then just pick through the food bowl. makes me think something is majorily wrong inside.

so is it really worth putting her through the op? especially seeing as it's not cheap...

oh. i don't know.

here's some ratta pictures to cheer us all up:

Hi Rach

I think it's best to give gyntha the chance of getting rid of that horrible lump and make sure it doesn't grow anymore.

I know what you mean though, it's a difficult decision to make. But look at Syd, she made it to 3 and 1/6 - so she could have a lot of choc drop, or youghart covered raisin chomping left in her yet!

Ah, pets. Can't live with them, definately can't live without them.

So, I think you should stay with us on Friday night (as long as you don't mind the sofa) as going all the way back to Hastings and then back again for Saturday lunch time is pretty heavy going (and expensive). It's obviously up to you though? If you are up for coming over (whether you'd like to stay or not) i'll send you the directions and address etc.

What else are you up to in London?

Good luck to Gytha with the op. By the time Syd developed her horrible tumours, she was too old for them to do anything. She lived with her lumps for months, but I'm sure if she'd been younger and been able to have them chopped she'd have been happier.

Gytha looks gorgeous. Rats are such great companions, aren't they? Do you ever use the www.fancy-rats.co.uk site? It's ace.

Sara wants a chinchilla now. Called Willow. But would a rat attack a chinchilla?
